Abstract

A comprehensive and specific definition of learning disability (LD) has been elusive inspite of extensive research done in the field. Many definitions suggest
that learning disability refers to a retardation, disorder, a delayed development in any one and more processes of speech, language, reading, writing, spelling,
arithmetic; attention, reasoning, memory and social competence. According toALCD (1989), Boone (1987), Hamill (1990) Myklebust (1983). According to
Myklebust (1983) these deficits may be due to a variety of endogenous, exogenous, congenital or acquired factors. According to Hamill (1990) it could
be due to CNS dysfuncion and intrinsic to the individual.
