Abstract
Speech audiometry is a basic tool of audiological evaluation. Pure tone audiometry alone does not provide any information about a person's ability to hear above the threshold and hence should be supplemented by speech audiometry. Speech audiometry helps to measure threshold, suprathreshold ·intelligibility, progress in lip-reading, auditory training success in otological surgery, as an aid in the diagnosis of peripheral and central auditory disorders, and in the select10n and evaluation of hearing aids.
