dc.description.abstract | Acoustic Brain Stem Electrical potentials were recorded by a far field technique on 70 normal hearing subjects using AMPLAID-MEDELEC ERA MK III apparatus. BER potentials were recorded on ten individuals in each decade from 1st to 7th. The technique is described. The results show that females have latencies for waves I to VI significantly shorter than males and the shortening increased progressively from wave I to VI. Amplitudes showed a very wide range of variations in both sexes with significant overlapping and hence is not significant. No significant differences were found in latencies between younger and older subjects or taller and shorter subjects. Finally we have established our own standards for latencies of different waves in various age groups of males and females. | en_US |
