dc.description.abstract | The study attempted to determine the effect of temporally variant noise on recognition of monosyllabic PB words. Thirty Oriya speaking individuals with normal hearing were evaluated. Their speech identification scores were determined in the presence of speech shaped noise. The different conditions included evaluation of speech identification in the presence of continuous noise, 16 Hz interrupted noise and, 32 Hz modulated noise at two different SNRs (0 dB and -5 dB). In addition, their speech identification in a quiet condition was also obtained. No significant difference was found between the speech identification scores in the continuous noise and 32 Hz interrupted noise condition at 0 dB SNR, whereas with the 16 Hz interrupted condition a significant difference was seen. | en_US |
